SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 14
(By Senators Bowman, McKenzie, Dittmar, Anderson, Bailey,
Wooton, Love, Schoonover, Ross, Oliverio, Kimble, Jackson,
Wiedebusch, Plymale, Craigo, Walker, Snyder, White, Prezioso,
Helmick, Fanning, Macnaughtan, Sharpe, Hunter, Minear Sprouse,
Buckalew, Dugan, Tomblin, Mr. President, and Chafin)
Pledging full support of the efforts of the brave men and women
of the West Virginia National Guard.
Whereas, Many West Virginians have distinguished themselves
by their unselfish dedication to the principles of freedom and
the American way of life; and
Whereas, West Virginians have a proud tradition of service
in the Armed Forces of the United States; and
Whereas, Members of the West Virginia Army and Air National
Guard have been called upon to provide direct or indirect support
in every major military action of the United States since World
War II; and
Whereas, Nine West Virginia National Guardsmen of Company C,
104th Aviation of Wheeling, West Virginia, have been called to
active federal duty and deployed in Bosnia with the United States Army and other forces of the United Nations in support of the
peacekeeping mission there; and
Whereas, These nine guardsmen have been placed in harm's way
so the citizens of Bosnia may enjoy a better quality of life; and
Whereas, Additional members of Company C, 104th Aviation, or
other units of the West Virginia Army or Air National Guard may
be called to federal duty as the Bosnian mission continues;
therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby pledges its full support of the
efforts of the brave men and women of the West Virginia National
Guard; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Senate is proud of their service
to our state and nation, and wishes them God speed in the
completion of theiryour mission and your safe return to "Almost Heaven",
West Virginia; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to
forward a copy of this resolution to each member of Company C,
104th Aviation, currently activated for this federal mission and
a copy to those additional soldiers and airmen of the West
Virginia National Guard who are activated before the conclusion
of this peacekeeping mission.
